Babington Scottish Apprenticeship Week Awards

#ScotAppWeek2023 Awards

This year, we celebrated Scottish Apprenticeship Week by showcasing how our Scotland based apprenticeships are helping learners, professionals and businesses to unlock their full potential, positively impacting their society and economy.

In addition, our Apprentice and Employer of the Year awards gave us an opportunity to highlight learners and employers we felt used their apprenticeship experience or programme to progress and make a real impact.

Apprentice of the Year 2023 Awards

This year we had six winners of the Apprentice of the Year Award, congratulations to all!

Accountancy - Ashley

Ashley maintained excellent results throughout her Accounting SCQF Level 6 apprenticeship, achieving 93% overall! The standard of work Ashley produced was consistently exceptional. During her apprenticeship, Ashley’s communication and presentation skills continue to develop as her confidence as an accounting professional grows!

Financial Services - Patrick

When asked how his Providing Financial Services SCQF Level 5 apprenticeship has helped him gain skills and confidence, Patrick mentioned his newly gained ability to use meta skills.

The Meta Skills Toolkit is a Progression Framework used by Skills Development Scotland – Meta-skills are innate, timeless, higher-order skills that create adaptive learners and promote success in whatever context the future brings.

Business and Administration - Beatrix

Beatrix’s progression and increased self-confidence was evident throughout her apprenticeship. Her Skills Coach said, ‘When Beatrix first began the apprenticeship, she was quiet, however it quickly became apparent that she was very driven to succeed not only in role but also with her Business Administration SCQF Level 6 apprenticeship.

Management - Sarah

Despite being new to a management position, Sarah embraced the learning and developed the skills she needed to lead and support a team of her own. Our Management SCQF Level 7 apprenticeship helped unlock Sarah’s true potential as a manager, through the development of relevant skills, a deeper understanding and her new found self confidence.

Logistics, Retail, Commerce - Nicole

Nicole is taking our Retail Skills SCQF Level 5 apprenticeship with a high street retail brand. She is a great example of how apprenticeships are helping people unlock their potential. Nicole has been able to develop a new sense of confidence as she develops her communication and customer service skills.

Customer Service - Janelle

Janelle showed commitment throughout her apprenticeship, this helped her as she learnt and developed her communication and customer service skills.  While on her Customer Service SCQF Level 6 apprentice she dedicated herself to her development and it has resulted in her development and progression.

Employer of the Year 2023 Awards

We also awarded the following employers with our Employer of the Year Award:

Bill Gosling Outsourcing

This year the team at Bill Gosling worked hard to reintroduce their apprenticeship programme with Babington’s support. They were able to recruit new apprentices and upskill their current staff

The Kelvin Partnership

There has been a continuous recruitment and development drive at The Kevin Partnership. Each apprentice is being mentored and supported, allowing them to progress within the business to reach their own individual goals.

Student Loans Company

The SLC apprentices have been given valuable support and guidance from their manager, Mark Stevenson. Due to this, all are progressing well through their Business Administration SCQF L6 qualification.
