If you have excellent people skills, then an apprenticeship in customer service could enable you to make full use of your abilities while building a successful career.
This apprenticeship will provide you with real working experience – the gateway to this exciting profession where each day is different. You’ll spend your time cooperating with various people from all sorts of backgrounds – all while working towards a nationally-recognised qualification!
Customer service is one of those attributes that can be applied to any job. Whether you work in the field, on a building site, in a shop or in an office, you’ll always have an opportunity to put your customer service skills to use.
As a customer service apprentice it will be your job to make sure that your customers have the best possible experience. That may involve taking phone calls or helping customers face-to-face. As customer service is such a broad, highly sought skill, your apprenticeship could take you to all sorts of industries, including retail, financial service, hospitality or sport and leisure.
On top of gaining valuable experience in customer service, and a nationally recognised qualification (both of which are desirable to employers) you’ll also work towards qualifications in maths and English. These core skills will help you to be more successful in your job. Some GCSE grades can be transferred, so you may be exempt from this additional learning area.

After completing my customer service course, I was amazed by how much work was covered in the units. I also enjoyed the English skills tasks, as it helped me gain more experience with public speaking. Babington’s staff were really helpful and adapted to my learning style.
My level 3 in Customer Service is really assisting me in my role, by managing and developing my team to maximise sales through excellent customer service. Helen at Babington has been a great support throughout my NVQ, offering support and suggestions throughout.
Being an apprentice has helped me build confidence in the workplace and gain valuable skills, all while earning a nice little wage packet. I couldn’t have completed my qualification without my line manager Rachel, and especially not without all the support giving from my tutor at Babington.
