What our
apprentices say

quote_icon

This was, without exception, the best example of focussed, professional, and high-quality training I have seen in 29 years in the industry. The subject knowledge, engagement, professionalism, feedback and leadership of the course was utterly superlative, and I am thoroughly motivated for the next instalment. [The trainer was able to] demonstrate not only the needs of the course but that she has lived it and can apply those lessons herself - this was not trainer just reading the course material - she is an exemplar leader who was sharing her knowledge, experience, and skills in a beautifully moderated and carefully delivered manner. Fascinating, engaging, and worthwhile.

Level 5 Learner

quote_icon

Personally, I think apprenticeships are so good for young people. At work I am the youngest, it was quite nerve-racking at first, but I feel loads better. Working with adults has really made me prepared for the future and working life. I also like while doing an apprenticeship, you can focus on one subject, which I feel personally I can be more successful. Apprenticeships are a really good experience too; I can gain the skills and knowledge needed for my industry.

Frequently asked questions

Here are some quick-fire questions on apprenticeships that you might find helpful!

Organisations icon white on green circle

Organisations

Yes! We work with employers of all sizes to help them get to grips with funding routes and guide them through the entire process of accessing and managing those funds.

As a Levy paying employer, you pay 0.5% of your annual pay bill towards the apprenticeship levy through PAYE each month. You can now use this allowance towards apprenticeship training – whether to bring new talent into the organisation, or upskill existing colleagues. As well as the allowance, the government also tops up your levy payments by 10% in your digital apprenticeship service account. So, for every £1 you pay towards the levy, this will become £1.10.

That’s ok, we can guide you through the process to understand what funding is still available to you and how you can access it.

As an SME employer, you can get funding from the government to help pay for apprenticeship training. If your annual pay bill is less than £3 million, you’ll fund the apprenticeships through co-investment. This is where you’ll contribute 5% to the costs of training and assessing your apprentices, and the government will fund the remaining 95%. For smaller companies with fewer than 50 employees, the government will pay all the costs for new apprentices aged 16 to 18 and those aged 19 to 24 who are leaving care or have a Local Authority and Healthcare plan.

No. Whilst the core apprenticeship ‘standards’ are the same (as these are set by the government), for best results you want to choose a provider who deeply understands your organisation or department’s talent requirements, and can work with you to contextualise and tailor apprenticeship programmes to suit you.

Yes – in fact, many businesses don’t realise that apprenticeships are a great way to fund upskilling and reskilling programmes, particularly if they’re going through transformation, require more data or digital skills, or are thinking about talent redeployment.

Individuals

The length of an apprenticeship completely depends upon the level and subject of the programme. Normally, apprenticeships will last anywhere between 18 and 36 months, including an ‘end point assessment’ window.

Not at all – whilst there are lots of apprenticeships designed for people who are leaving school or just starting out in their careers, we also offer degree and masters level apprenticeships for senior professionals and executives. In fact, our Level 7 apprenticeships – like Senior People Professional – give you a qualification that’s the equivalent of a Masters degree.

Yes – lots of employers pay what’s called a ‘levy’ (a bit like a tax) into a government pot that is then available for them to ‘claim back’ specifically to fund apprenticeships and other learning activities. As long as the apprenticeship you want to undertake is aligned to your role or career development, you can ask your work to fund it.

We work with lots of the UK’s top employers to help them find and hire people like you into their apprenticeship programmes. To browse vacancies and apply, head over to our candidate hub.
