ACCA Applied Knowledge

The ACCA Applied Knowledge level is the first part of the full ACCA qualification. This acts as a basis and introduction to the fundamentals of accounting, giving you a solid foundation in the role accounting plays in an organisation. This course is delivered online.

The ACCA provide an accounting qualification with a strong focus on professional values, ethics, and governance, achieving the full ACCA qualification is ideal for those with a strong interest in tax and audit. Learning journey overview

This professional qualification with Babington is made up of three detailed units, comprising:

  • Focuses on business organisation, structure, governance and management while considering environmental influences and constraints. Also covers the history and role of accounting in business, specific functions and internal financial control. Includes knowledge on leading and managing teams

  • Covers the nature and purpose of cost and management accounting, including cost classification, behaviour and purpose. Includes a focus on business mathematics and electronic spreadsheets, cost-accounting techniques and short-term decision-making methods

  • Explores context and purpose of financial reporting, alongside qualitative characteristics of financial information and bases of accounting. Includes overview on using double entry and accounting systems and recording transactions. Learn to prepare a trial balance, statements and group accounting basics

  • You will be assessed through computer-based exams sat at an ACCA approved centre with quarterly exam windows

For employers

Organisations will have an experienced and trained individual with the ability to carry out basic accounting and auditing tasks for the business in an ethical manner. Learners will understand how accounting fits into organisations and how businesses operate, helping to apply their learning to their current and future roles. Organisations can place their professionals on this course as a means of refreshing their basic skills and knowledge, allowing employees to learn at their own pace.

For learners

This course will support leaners in gaining an understanding of what a management accountant is and understand basic costing principles. You will also learn how to do basic double entry bookkeeping to produce a set of financial statement. Upon completing the ACCA strategic professional level, you will qualify for membership with ACCA. You will also be eligible for roles such as a Personal Banker or Financial Analyst.
