This is an excellent achievement for Emma Denty, Head of Move-In and Renewals at Nick Dunning Associates, who has worked hard over the past 18 months to achieve this accolade.
Achieving an apprenticeship at a distinction is a huge undertaking ensuring that the work provided doesn’t just meet but far exceeds the criteria.

It’s our belief that the hard work and partnership of learner, employer and mentor has enabled not only this learner to succeed but has given a clear a path for many more learners to thrive in the sector.
Babington is the largest provider of property apprenticeships and has listened to calls from industry to align the programme focus, we are uniquely positioned to effectively support the sector. We hold regular sector events which are aligned to the awarding bodies and help our employers better educate their teams on the possible impacts of the world property services.

I am completing the Level 3 Award in Residential and Property Management.
Day to day, I look after the move in and renewals team. This includes keeping the departments legal and compliant at all times. I assist the team with any queries they may have and also run through their targets on a weekly basis to ensure the company standards are being met and maintained. Working with both internal and external customers to ensure we have a really good relationship which is key to both staff and business retention.
Since March 2020 I have been working from home most of the time. This has meant the traditional classroom learning has moved onto teams. There has still been lots of interaction using the phone and video calling. I haven’t been able to engage as much with the group I am completing the course with, a challenge of working from home is its been a little trickier to book in this time, although I was well into the apprenticeship so this was less essential.
The training has really encouraged me to challenge everything we do, just because we have always done it doesn’t mean there isn’t room for improvement. I have used lots of the ‘off the job training’ to host teams sessions with my team. It has led us to discussions that ordinarily we wouldn’t have had as often we covered topics that didn’t directly relate to lettings. With COVID there has been lots of changes within the housing sector and these have prompted some really great debates. The most recent was on a call just this morning where we discussed the stamp duty extension that is due to be debated in government on Monday.
I think they are offering a great training resource. The business knows everyone completing the course are being given more tools to succeed in doing their day job. Engaging and encouraging people onto the courses also promotes staff retention as training within a role is key.
As part of my end-point assessment, I was able to introduce a new measure for the lettings business. The course is continually allowing me to progress as an individual as I also now have 5 members of my team who are now property management apprentices, so I am able to coach and guide them through the process.
It has provided a constant in a year of change. It has been a focus knowing I was working towards the end goal. It has also encouraged me to explore other methods of communication and Kahoot is now a firm favourite within the team. Kenny has been brilliant at keeping in touch and keeping us updated with all the changes such as the End Point Assessment moving onto teams. It was handled very professionally and also allows more people to go through this particular stage at a time as you only need to make allowances for the assessment time no travelling time has to be considered.
I would, I am actively encouraging everyone in my team that are not currently participating to apply for the next intake of the course. I think as we move through ‘working life’ it has taught me that it’s really important to keep learning and challenging. Even when I finish the course and are no longer a Property Management apprentice, I want to continue to learn and develop myself.
Kenny my trainer has been amazing throughout, he has always been on hand with any questions and comes back with helpful pointers and advice in completing the activities along the course. The apprenticeship has taught me to look at all situations from a 360 degree rather than just looking at one angle of a problem. I believe this will be a hugely beneficial tool as I progress further through my career.
