What is Performance Enablement?

Is your approach to performance management driving better business results? Find out more and watch the latest on-demand webinar session below.

Today, we will be exploring performance enablement and why many organisations are choosing this method within their leadership practises.

According to Deloitte, 49% of companies say that their performance management process is not an effective use of their time. With the working environment changing since COVID-19, employees want to feel empowered in their roles, and expectations around workplace cultures have shifted accordingly.

Enter ‘performance enablement’.

What is performance enablement?

Performance enablement is an ongoing process that can elevate your company and work. By giving employees the support and development they need on a daily basis, managers can unlock their team’s potential to drive business results.

Why is this important to organisations?

Research conducted by McKinsey suggests that an estimated 11 million working adults could be under skilled in core leadership skills by 2030.

With this in mind, organisations now need to consider moving away from ‘compliance’ and ‘compensation’, to finding ways that businesses can help people be ‘great’.

How can this be integrated into day-to-day operations?

And how can this be implemented on a managerial and employee level?

Some suggested tactics to get started including:

  1. Monthly team meetings – Use this time to agree priorities for the next month, celebrate successes, and review ways of working.
  2. Monthly 1:1s – In this time wellbeing, strengths, and blockers can be discussed.
  3. Multi-level feedback – Throughout team and 1:1 session feedback is encouraged, regularly across all levels.
  4. Deep manager reflections – This time can be used to reflect on team performance, individual wellbeing and feedback.
