Progressing within the finance industry requires knowledge, skill, and experience. The Professional Accounting or Taxation Level 4 apprenticeship, now updated for the AAT Q2022 syllabus, allows you to develop relevant experience and further your skills on the job, whilst gaining and demonstrating a greater level of expertise and ability to support your business’ finance function.

During the programme, apprentices will develop their ability to create, verify and review accurate and timely financial information. As a skilled finance professional, your employee will be able to apply the relevant ethical, professional, and accounting standards in the preparation and drafting of financial statements. Depending on their role your employee will also learn specialist knowledge in other aspects of accounting, for example, management or tax accounting.

Develop your technical knowledge and experience to provide strategic business advice to organisations of all types and sizes. This apprenticeship will build on your existing finance and accounting knowledge, allowing you to upskill into a confident finance professional, capable of supporting your company in several ways. Our Professional Accounting Technician apprenticeship will equip you with greater financial expertise for you to apply to your role, your career, and your company goals.

Specialisation options

Through the course of the Professional Accounting Level 4 programme, you will develop the core skills and competencies needed to progress into senior accountancy roles. In terms of specialisation, we offer AAT, ACCA and CIMA learning pathways. Here's the difference between the them:

At the end of the AAT route, you will receive the AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting. You would select this pathway if you are interested in roles such as: Accounts Manager, Commercial Analyst, or Financial Accountant.

On completion of the ACCA pathway, you will gain the ACCA Level 4 Applied Knowledge qualification. You would select this programme if your role, or desired role, has responsibility for accountancy and auditing, taxation, and financial management.

If you choose the CIMA route, you will the CIMA Level 4 Certificate in Business Accounting qualification. You would choose this pathway if your role, or your desired role, involves business partnering across other functions within your business.
