Total of three apprentices, trained by Babington, were nominated for the Apprentice of the Year award at the Propertymark Qualifications Awards 2021!

The awards show was introduced to celebrate learners, employers, and candidates who are on their way to or have already achieved one of Propertymark’s property-related qualifications.

The 2021 show was set up with the goal of marking educational success within the sector and acknowledging life-long learning achievements, from property industry professionals. Reception for the awards took place on the evening of 6th December 2021 at the Aloft London Excel.

Shortlist for the Apprentice of the Year award included three Babington apprentices, from the Leaders Romans Group: Christopher Thurdgood, James Bowler, and the winner – Darcy Halliday. All three nominees completed the Junior Estate Agent (Level 2) programme with Babington.

Insight on the Propertymark Awards Show

Group Training Manager for Leaders Romans Group, Chris Wilkinson, celebrates the occasion: “We are extremely proud of Darcy Halliday on winning the “Apprentice of the Year” at the recent Propertmark Qualifications Awards. A huge thank you to everyone at Babington for your continued support and professionalism in supporting Leaders Romans Group and its employees with their apprenticeship journeys, in the past, present, and future. Thank You.”

Moreover, Babington’s Growth Engagement Director, Matthew Elson said: “It’s an honour to see the development of Babington supported apprentices. Both at the Leaders Romans Group and other property partners. Our partnership with Property mark has only evolved over the past few years and continues to grow.

When asked for a comment, about the winner of the Apprentice of the Year award, Elson added: “Darcy Halliday (LRG) was an exceptional and deserving winner of Apprentice of the Year 2021. She is an asset to the Leaders Romans Group and a shining example of a committed and driven apprentice.”

Matthew continued: “Lucy Antony (Babington Trainer) has done a brilliant job to support Darcy to achieve her programme through some very challenging times as we tackled lockdown, new ways of working, and learning to deliver results in a changed environment. It was a privilege to be there on Darcy’s behalf with Chris Wilkinson (Head of Training LRG) to witness these achievements.”

Property Apprenticeships with Babington

The property apprenticeships, that are offered by Babington, have helped numerous people launch successful careers in the property industry. The training provider, in collaboration with Propertymark qualifications, offers: Junior Estate Agent (Level 2)Housing/Property Management Assistant (Level 2), and Housing/Property Management (Level 3) apprenticeships.

Listed programmes were developed with industry standards in mind. Learners get a chance to experience ins and outs of the property industry, as well as develop crucial skills regarding the broader housing market. The qualifications encourage growth of problem-solving, administrative, communication, and organisational skills.

Benjamin, a Babington Property Services Apprentice, sets an excellent example of what you can achieve through apprenticeships: “I was looking at my friends coming out of university with degrees, but they were still waiting for better job opportunities. At university, you can sit around for years waiting to become qualified. While I prefer to get hands-on and start learning! It’s definitely paying off, as now I’ve stepped up to a role as assistant manager.”

Additionally, the Property Apprenticeships graduates can become qualified members of NAEA Propertymark or ARLA Propertymark. The main benefits of these are:

  • Membership gives learners the credibility of being a part of an association.
  • Allows access to information and guidance on market data, latest legislations, as well as free industry events.
  • Free counselling, HR helpline, and more.
  • Access to certain document templates, for instance Tenancy Agreements.
  • Members gain access to qualified solicitors for specific legal advice.

All in all, Babington would like to congratulate Darcy Halliday for winning the Apprentice of the Year award as well as Christopher Thurdgood and James Bowler for reaching the shortlist!
