On April 7th 2014, apprentice hair students at the Trilogy hair salon in Bolton, competed against each other in a ‘World’ themed competition, to celebrate the official opening of the Trilogy hair salon.
The apprentice hair students, who are studying at both Intermediate and Advanced Level, competed against each other, styling both the hair and make-up of their models in order to reflect their ‘world’ theme, and to celebrate the official opening of the Trilogy hair salon, Bolton.
The hair designs were inspired by world cultures, including themes such as:
- Cadbury’s World
- ‘World War Z’
- The Seven Seas
- The Eastern World
A total of 6 apprentices competed against each other, in order to be crowned as the best trainee; being judged by an expert panel.
All competitors received a goody bag; third place took home £25, second place took £50, and first place received £100, whilst also joining Babington CEO, Carole Carson, to cut the ribbon at the official opening of the Trilogy hair salon.
Speaking during the event, Carole said:
It has been really good today, and an eye-opening experience. Watching you all be so artistic, and to have this as our official opening is just brilliant.
The Winning Style
Level 3 Advanced Apprentice and Stylist, Kimberley Kalbus, took first place with her ‘Seven Seas’ inspired design.
The 25 year-old, who was bullied throughout school, and is severely dyslexic, explained that once she is fully-qualified she wants to go straight into teaching, so that others can benefit like she has.
Speaking of the experience, Kimberley explained:
I’m so surprised to have won – I changed my idea, so I wasn’t expecting this! I’ve been doing this for 10 years – I’m also a qualified therapist and make-up artist. I want to inspire others and show them that if I can do it then they can too.
