Last week Nigel Girling, Director of The National Centre for Strategic Leadership, gave a speech to an audience of volunteers and industry leaders at the Volunteer Thank You event at Thomson Reuters, Canary Wharf, on behalf of the Engage for Success Government Task Force.
Nigel spoke about the importance of leadership to achieving high levels of engagement and how this then relates to delivering high performance in organisations. He also presented the conclusions of a newly-published report on research conducted with the Engagement Task Force into Leadership and Engagement in the Construction Sector.
Businesses run on relationships, not data.
The research was sponsored by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and highlighted the need for leaders at all levels to build stronger relationships with their people so that greater engagement would lead to enhanced productivity and innovation.
