Communications Day 2017: Babington’s Got Talent

Posted by: Mia Lewis Post Date: 17th October 2017

Last week saw a company-wide return to Derby Arena for our annual Communications Day and this year the theme was ‘Babington’s Got Talent’!

The day was a huge success, providing an opportunity to network, share information and showcase just how talented we all are.

The day commenced with an informative presentation by our CEO, Carole Carson and Chief Finance Officer, Adrian Fantham, who both explored the overall growth across all areas of the business. There were some impressive statistics included too:

This was followed by a safe flight through Babington’s Journey, with our Pilot, Group Commercial Director, David Gallagher, and Co-pilot, Chief Operating Officer, Emma Yorke. With presentations over, we were treated to a delicious buffet and drinks, courtesy of caterers at the arena. There was also the return of the assorted flavours popcorn cart and a new churro stand too – a definite winner with us!

The afternoon session gave employees chance to visit stalls hosted by different departments, who had done an incredible job of displaying key messages from their area of expertise. We were also treated to a hands-on skills session; Graeme of Thrones acting workshop and 5-star performance from the Employability department. However, it was the Administration/Accounting department, otherwise known as Babington United, who stole the show and won the prize for the best stall of the day, with their fantastic game which educated us on how they achieve their department goals.

We concluded the Communications day with an impressive awards ceremony which demonstrated our many successes, both from the day’s activities and throughout our working lives. A highlight was Babington’s ‘Best of the best’ award which was presented to a deserving Jill Percy who is an Engagement Officer at our Head Office in Derby.
