On the 22nd of June, every Babington employee gathered together in Derby for the annual Communications Day, a day of networking, information sharing, and a celebration of the collective achievements of the business.
Hosted at the velodrome arena, the event brought together every Babington department from around the country and was a chance for everyone to showcase their achievements, and meet some new faces.
The day started with a presentation about the growth of the business across all sectors, with some encouraging statistics, including that there is a 90+% overall satisfaction rate for learners and employers that work with Babington, a whopping 17% above the national average.
After the opening presentations, we were treated to some wonderful food and drink courtesy of the extremely helpful staff and caterers at Derby arena. There was a waffle stand from Sweety Fair, who also sold popcorn with the most interesting flavours, including bacon, and chocolate orange.
Each department had prepared a stall weeks in advance, which gave a little representation of what they do day to day. We were taught about the upcoming apprenticeship levy and the new reforms for apprenticeships by Del-Boy and Willy Wonka and were also treated to a Lord of the Rings parody by the eCommerce team, which included a moral about the values of strong leadership and team management. However, it was the IT department’s interactive game and quiz – which educated us on the importance of IT security – that walked away with the prize for the best stall of the day.
Overall, the day was great fun, nd demonstrated Babington’s achievements, including changing the lives of nearly 14,000 learners over the last 6 years and engaging with an additional 2,000 employers.
