Central Government Mobilising Apprenticeships

Posted by: Jennifer Bramley

Public Sector Bodies and Government Departments, with 250 or more staff in England, have a target to employ an average of at least 2.3% of their staff as new apprentice starts over the period of 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2021.

Babington are proud to say that we are the number one Accountancy Apprenticeship Provider for the UK Central Government, in turn, supporting them to reach this target.

Some of the departments of the Government of the United Kingdom that we work with:
The main programmes that these departments are focusing on with Babington are:

The Central Government, and all Public Bodies, use the Dynamic Purchasing Systems (DPS) to award providers with contracts for work, services and goods available. The Central Government, through the Crown Commercial Service, have provided Babington with the following Award Frameworks:

This means we are an approved training provider by the UK Government, to deliver flexible training in accountancy and finance, Leadership, project management, operational delivery, HR, financial services, digital, customer service, commercial, property and more.

High-quality Digital Onboarding Process and Delivery

Our adaptive change to COVID-19 has highlighted our high-quality virtual Onboarding process that provides the authorities with IAG and an in-depth Skills Gap Analysis activity, which evaluates their business and employee development needs.

We then provide a range of flexible training solutions, with a dual delivery model to ensure your learners receive the finest training and assessment possible. Our blended learning approach combines our bespoke online learning platform, BabingtonOnline and classroom-based sessions, all of which are supported by our specialist trainers.

Babington has a high first-time pass rate in Accountancy, RCO and across other programmes.

All of our partnered Public Bodies and Government departments also receive access to an Account Manager that is responsible for the following:

Skills Identification
  • Support and advise the employer on mobilisation and skills solutions
  • Work to develop talent pipelines within the organisation
  • Manage the Onboarding of the delegates from end to end
  • Work through the skills gap analysis with delegates, to enable the correct starting point
  • Agree and set out timelines for delivery and mentoring
  • Manage progress reporting
  • Hold monthly progress reviews with the employer
  • Specific intervention on learner support and safeguarding
  • Hold quarterly strategy reviews with the employer

All of these reasons, as well as our successful track record within the Public Sector, have given us the opportunity to become the partner of choice for all 5 of the above departments of the Central UK Government.

We have seen over 45 apprenticeship starts from the Central Government in May alone. Babington are pleased to see that the Central Government are focusing on mobilising Apprenticeships during this time and are delighted to have been awarded the CCS Framework status to help build the skills gap across a range of job roles, within 5 important Government departments.
