Following a competitive selection process, Babington has been invited to continue the development of the Insurance Practitioner Trailblazer through an Employer Steering Group chaired by Aon.
Babington has twelve centres across the UK, along with its head office in Pride Park Derby. It will project manage the development process through a series of employer workshops, consulting with the Department for Business Innovation & Skills and the Skills Funding Agency to ensure that the new Trailblazer insurance apprenticeship programme is successfully launched to the insurance market after government approval.
Babington has already been a lead contributor to Trailblazer through its work in the financial advice sector, where it supported employers in successfully developing the Financial Services Administrator apprenticeship, which will be launched to market by the year end. In addition, Babington continues to support the advice sector through current work developing a new Paraplanner apprenticeship, which is expected to launch in early 2015.
The standards produced by Trailblazers will become the blueprint for apprenticeships in those occupations. The first delivery of apprenticeships under the new standards is expected to take place in the 2014 to 2015 academic year. From 2017 to 2018 all new apprenticeship starts will be within standards designed by employers.
Carole Carson, CEO of Babington, said, “Babington’s commitment and success in supporting Trailblazer, and the recognition of our expertise through our successful selection to work with the Insurance employer group, confirms our position as a thought leader at the cutting edge of apprenticeship development in the Insurance and Financial advice sectors.”
Julie Hycett, Early Career Programme Manager at Aon UK, said, “Babington’s expertise in Trailblazer is clear and we are delighted to be working with them on this important project. We look forward to developing the new Insurance Practitioner Trailblazer apprenticeship for launch in 2015”.
