Utilising Property Services Apprenticeships: Leaders Romans Group

Posted by: Jennifer Bramley

Leaders Romans Group are one of the UK’s largest property services groups spanning across many market-leading brands each with their own unique heritage; Leaders, Romans, Boyer, Revolution, Moginie James, Scott Fraser and Outlook.

They started their journey in residential sales and lettings and, over the last 30+ years, have expanded to offer a whole host of property services from planning to financial services and corporate property management.

Growth and Development

As the size of the company grew, Leaders Romans Group (LRG) began contributing towards the Government’s Apprenticeship Levy. LRG saw this as a fantastic opportunity to develop their employees with the skills needed to drive their business forward.

Partnering with Babington

Once Leaders started paying the Levy, they started seeking an apprenticeship provider that could deliver a Housing and Property related apprenticeship that suited the business’ wants and needs.

Babington’s range of Property and Housing Management apprenticeships, in partnership with Propertymark Qualifications, meant that we were a good fit for RLG.

Our Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeships focus on building the skills and experience that the learner will need to market, sell and rent homes and other properties. Throughout these programmes, employees learn the principles of the property industry and are fully involved in daily tasks such as dealing with enquiries and marketing properties for sale or rent.

“Babington were able to offer and deliver a solution that met our core requirements. We have consistently placed apprenticeships with Babington as we feel that our needs are being met and we look forward to working with them for many more years to come.” – Chris Wilkinson, Group Training Manager at Leaders Romans Group.

More than just Property Apprenticeships

Even during these changing and challenging times, Leaders are continuing to drive their apprenticeship programmes forward and have consistently added new starters each month throughout 2020. Leaders Romans Group currently utilise the following apprenticeships within their business:

Propertymark Membership

On top of the high-quality training being delivered, the Property Services apprenticeships give the learner certification to satisfy the entry requirement to become a qualified member of NAEA or ARLA Propertymark at the relevant grade.

The ARLA/NAEA Propertymark memberships give members the credibility of being part of a respected association and provides access to information and guidance on the latest legislation and market data, including access to free industry events.

We asked Leaders how their Propertymark Membership benefit their business:

One word Trust. As an ARLA Propertymark member, our clients can be assured that we are compliant with all the latest legislation. When clients work with a business they trust and respect this ultimately increases recognition and awareness, which in turn allows us to grow stronger.”

Added Value and Impact

LRG have a large amount of apprentice’s upskilling within the business, meaning the wider industry will benefit as well as the employer. Their apprentices are professionally trained and qualified and are encouraged to stay within the business to develop long-term, successful careers.

The employees who undertake these apprenticeships within Leaders have a great route to develop new skills in a structured and nurtured format. This enables them to complete their apprenticeships in a timely fashion with ongoing support, flourish as individuals throughout, and bring new ideas into the business. The training also supports them on a great progression journey as their career develops.

“I have found Babington to be an excellent source of support. From initial enrolment and working closely with their Regional Client Engagement Manager to dealing with different Heads of delivery. I can pick up the phone and know that my query or question will be dealt with quickly in a very efficient yet personal manner. Communication is key and with Babington, I feel I have that wealth of support that only aids the communication process.”
