Central Mailing Services: Upskilling employees at no cost

Central Mailing Services Limited is a full-service Mailing House, with one of the most up to date production centres in the UK. They offer a wide range of services, capable of outputting well over 2million packs a week. From paper-wrapped magazines and rent statements to hand packed and wrapped teddy bears and gifts, the staff and production centre at CMS can do almost anything that can be mailed or distributed.

Central Mailing Services work in a very challenging and competitive market, especially in such a tough economic marketplace at present, yet they still constantly look to improve and refine everything that the business does, including the investment of staff development and training.

The business has a proud track record of working with apprentices, with a number of long-serving staff having come through apprenticeships. They recently identified the opportunity to upskill a number of existing employees across different departments, and with the help of Babington, they were able to do so without no cost to their business.

Training, at no cost.

When the West Midlands Combined Authority announced that they can now delegate funds to support SME employers with apprenticeship training, Joanne Barrett (Regional Client Engagement Manager at Babington) contacted Central Mailing Services to inform the business of this fantastic opportunity.

Central Mailing Services were already working in partnership with Babington, by developing a Level 3 Infrastructure Technician Apprentice, so when the opportunity to gain further training for their existing staff at no cost arose, it was a real plus for the company.

Upskilling existing staff and new recruits.

CSM understood the importance of using the free funding to upskill their team and have since enrolled a number of employees on the following programmes with Babington:

Thanks to the WMCA, Babington were able to offer all of their apprenticeship courses to CSM, free of charge.
