What will I be doing?
This higher apprenticeship is for those who want to eventually manage their own care homes or domiciliary care company. It will provide you with the skills and knowledge of how to succeed in the industry whilst leading a team to provide the very best care for your clients.
You will choose from a selection of three pathways: the Adults Residential Management Pathway, the Adults’ Advanced Practice Pathway, and the Adults’ Management Pathway. Each of these differs in content but result in the same qualification. The pathways share mandatory units but have different optional units to choose from.
Some of the aspects of health and social care leadership you may cover includes:
- Recruitment and selection within health and social Care setting
- Managing quality in a health and social Care setting
- Understanding how to manage a team
- Understanding professional supervision practice
- Leading the management of transitions
- Supporting the use of assistive technology
- Supporting individuals with sensory loss with communication
What qualifications will I achieve?
Although the three pathways of Adults Residential Management, Adults’ Advanced Practice, and Adults’ Management differ in content, they all lead to the same Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care.
What are the entry requirements?
This level will suit you if you are responsible for running a facility that provides services for vulnerable children, adults or both. It helps if you have already achieved level 2 and 3 qualifications in this sector, or are backed by at least two years’ worth of experience – however, this will depend on the preferences of the employer.
You will also need to be working in a senior health and social care role throughout the duration of the course.
What can I do afterwards?
This is an essential qualification to becoming a manager of care homes, domiciliary companies, or other businesses within the health and social care sector. Progressing onto level 5 will allow you to improve your skills and become a better leader within this industry.
The diploma increased my skills and knowledge, and I progressed to Lead Trainer with the company. I would highly recommend anyone who wants to gain knowledge of a certain sector to do an Apprenticeship with Babington – all the staff are so helpful. Doing this qualification was one of the best decisions I have made, and if that’s not enough you get a graduation on completion which I am looking forward to attending in December!
Loving this course so far. My tutor is very supportive and I’ve been really impressed with Babington.
I have gained more knowledge and understanding during my course – this has been a stepping stone to a new role.
