Are you ready to take your first step into a hairdressing career? Gain invaluable salon experience on a hairdressing or barbering apprenticeship.
With an apprenticeship, you will get real industry experience to go alongside your nationally recognised qualification, and day to day guidance by industry professionals.
Become a cut above the rest with an apprenticeship in hairdressing.
Your day to day duties will vary as an apprentice, but they will, of course, include need-to-know hairdressing tasks such as booking appointments, cutting, drying, colouring, and styling hair. You will also have the opportunity to progress in the role to become a junior stylist and improve your skills.
Being a barber or hairdresser requires great communication abilities, as you will be socialising with new people every day, allowing them to feel comfortable in your hands. This is a skill that will come in time and will strengthen your reputation as a stylist. As an apprentice hairdresser, you can look forward to new styles, cuts, and challenges every day.
As well as gaining a professional qualification, you will also work towards functional skills qualifications in maths and English if needed, supplied by Babington’s expert tutors.
These qualifications usually last 12 months, however the length of time will depend on the course, the ability of the individual, and the employer’s requirements.

My training is pushing me further towards my goal to open my own salon. I’ve had so much fun on the apprenticeship, where I’ve also won the Britain’s Best award in the bridal and glamorous hair categories. My training advisor Janine has pushed me and offered lots of advice that I will take with me for years to come.
I’ve always loved being creative and this apprenticeship has really allowed me to channel my creativity. I am adding to my line of skills and want to keep progressing with the level 2 in hairdressing, as the salon I work in is unisex and is broadening my skills.
I really enjoy my apprenticeship, I feel like I am learning a lot, the experience I am gaining in the salon I work at is really valuable.
