The CII apprenticeships in insurance will allow you to gain a comprehensive understanding of the insurance industry while gaining on-the-job skills and experience.
As the largest deliverer of Insurance and Personal Finance apprenticeship standards on the CII (Chartered Insurance Institute) Aspire Programme, Babington will ensure you are equipped with the skills you need to launch a career in the insurance industry.
This apprenticeship has been designed for use in banks and building societies, but may have wider application across financial services, including life insurers. This apprenticeship provides a development pathway that will allow apprentices to specialise in a particular area of the insurance industry, with supporting and appropriate professional qualifications.
As an apprentice insurance professional, the learner will consolidate their technical industry and business knowledge and develop the skills needed to apply this knowledge to a range of complex and/or unfamiliar situations. Depending on the business and the needs of your employer, the learner could be working in one of the following areas: broking; client management; underwriting; claims; operations; loss adjusting; reinsurance; risk management; product and pricing; complaint handling. The qualification consists of two compulsory units covering insurance law and insurance industry business concepts, and a range of optional units spanning a variety of insurance product areas and insurance functions.
Apprentices will study four diploma level qualifications from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) – M05, M80, M92 and M86. Before taking their End-Point Assessment to complete the CII Level 4 Diploma in Insurance, Apprentices must achieve Level 2 English and Mathematics.

Apprentice or Employer?
Doing the CII qualification will enable me to further my career and will broaden my job prospects for the future. My tutor is very supportive and makes me feel confident that I will succeed.
Aside from all the administrative skills I picked up, I really feel like this apprenticeship has got me out of my shell. Before, I was very shy. At times, I even had trouble getting out of the house and going to the shop. But this apprenticeship has boosted my confidence massively after speaking to so many people over the phone including customers and insurers. I really feel like I can talk to anybody.
I’ve certainly gained a lot of confidence through the CII qualification, as well as a wealth of background knowledge. I’ve learned more in depth about what the financial industry is all about through the apprenticeship, and have built more avenues and opportunities for myself going forwards.
