The level 2 apprenticeship is an ideal stepping stone for those looking to start in the financial services industry, or those already in employment who are looking to strengthen their skills to advance their career. This apprenticeship has been designed for use in banks and building societies, but may have wider application across financial services, including life insurers and other insurance sectors.
Within the organisations previously mentioned, there are several front-line roles that deal with customers and require a high level of technical knowledge and skills across a wide range of products – these may happen in a branch, over the phone, through the internet/social media or an operations centre that supports other areas. The learner may deal with individuals, businesses or a small portfolio of accounts.
There are two choices of qualification routes on this standard: Foundation in Insurance Route or Award in Life & Pensions Foundation Route. Typical activities the learner will cover could include: understanding customer needs and meeting those needs with the right products and services; promoting new digital services; pro-actively calling customers to deepen relationships; resolving tricky complaints; working with other areas of the organisation to meet customer needs.
Learners will be assessed through an on-programme and an End-Point Assessment. As they study towards the qualification, they will also gain off-the-job training and maintain a training file in line with the employer’s performance management process.
We offer the add-on of LF1 (Foundation in Insurance Route) or FIT (Foundation in Insurance Route) for FREE as part of this apprenticeship.

Apprentice or Employer?
Doing the CII qualification will enable me to further my career and will broaden my job prospects for the future. My trainer is very supportive and makes me feel confident that I will succeed.
Aside from all the administrative skills I picked up, I really feel like this apprenticeship has got me out of my shell. Before, I was very shy. At times, I even had trouble getting out of the house and going to the shop. But this apprenticeship has boosted my confidence massively after speaking to so many people over the phone including customers and insurers. I really feel like I can talk to anybody.
I’ve certainly gained a lot of confidence through the CII qualification, as well as a wealth of background knowledge. I’ve learned more in depth about what the financial industry is all about through the apprenticeship, and have built more avenues and opportunities for myself going forwards.
