Introduction to the course
This 15 month Data Analyst programme is designed to give someone working in a data analyst role the technical knowledge to understand their role and the various technologies available to carry out data analysis.
This programme also develops the skills and behaviours expected of a Data Analyst. A Data Analyst can work across a range of projects providing technical data solutions to a variety of stakeholders.
Learners will develop their skills to be able collect and compile data from numerous sources in order to manipulate and link data sets as required in order to provide quality and cleansed data to be used in a variety of situations.
In addition, learners will understand the data life-cycle and develop their knowledge of the different types of data, including open and public data, administrative data and research data. The under pinning knowledge will further be supported by understanding the fundamentals of data structures and system design, implementation and maintenance.
The knowledge gained will help learners apply the appropriate techniques for data analysis, visualisation and presentation.

Learners are required to complete two knowledge modules during their on programme element of this programme covering Data Analysis Tools and Data Analysis Concepts. Once learners have completed and passed the optional exams, should they wish to take them, they will progress to the End-Point Assessment when their performance, knowledge and skills will be assessed against specified criteria. They will need a reference from their employer and will be required to put together a portfolio of evidence and present it at an interview with the BCS (The Chartered Institute for IT). Learners will also require English and Mathematics at Level 2 before completing their apprenticeship.

Management Information Director
Completion of the apprenticeship will allow learners to apply for entry to the Register of IT Technicians confirming SFIA level 3 professional competence. Learners may develop into a more senior role and progress onto a L6 Data Scientist or L6 Digital & Technology Solutions Professional Degree apprenticeship.
