Customer Service Apprentice

Supporting Financial Advisers in the provision of Advice to clients, by updating client files and providing timely portfolio summaries with information details for client meetings.


Key responsibilities include:

The position will be to support the Customer Service team, Sales Team and Agents in an insurance administration capacity and at the same time embracing the opportunity to learn how the insurance market operates and gain insurance skills to progress towards becoming either a Customer Service Advisor or Sales Advisor.

The favoured candidate will need to have a strong work ethic, good communication and organisational skills, be computer literate and work well within a friendly team along with a commitment to provide quality service.

Role Purpose:

  • To assist in the administration of arranging a cross section of insurance policies
  • To assist on-going maintenance of effective diary system, renewal logs and credit control chasers
  • Use a Client Relationship Management System to document client contact and maximise cross selling opportunities
  • Providing renewal review administration support
  • Learning and understanding the insurance market through Continual Personal
  • Development and support from colleagues
  • Managing and scheduling appointments
  • Engaging with our Underwriting Teams and Customers by telephone, letter, email and face to face

What I will learn:

Level 3 Customer Service Apprentice standard.

Full on-the-job training and support will be provided to enable the successful applicant to undertake the full range of duties required of the role. All apprentices are required to complete and evidence 20% of the job learning whilst on their apprenticeship. In addition, the apprenticeship will be delivered primarily on our online platform, Babington Online and you will receive full support from our dedicated team of Training Advisors via workshops, webinars and regularly scheduled reviews, conducted by Skype and/or Phone.

Our Customer Service Practitione Level 2 Programme consists of the following:

  • Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 Standard
  • Functional Skills in Literacy and Numeracy Level 2
  • End-point Assessment conducted by an external provider (Presentation or project, interview and knowledge test)

Requirements and prospects:

Desired Skills and Personal qualities: 

  • Communication skills, IT skills, Organisation skills, Customer care skills, Team working, Accurate data input skills, Honesty and integrity, Dependable and Accountable, Punctual and reliable, Eagerness to learn, Self motivated


  • GCSE or equivalent Maths & English + 3 further subjects (Grade Grades A*-C (4-9)) Essential
